Modular Energy founded
Modular Energy (SMC-Private) Limited incorporated as Pakistan’s engineering-led solar installer. Founded by Syed Muhammad Mujtaba Raza on the principle that Pakistan deserved Tier-1-only installations executed to international engineering standards — not the lowest-bid contracts dominating the early market.
AEDB Certified · No. 1 on Pakistan’s PPIB list
In 2021 Solar Citizen receives its AEDB C-3 license, qualifying the company to install systems up to 250 kW. In 2023 it upgrades to AEDB C-2 (up to 500 kW) and ranks #1 on Pakistan’s official PPIB Certified Installer list.
Supreme Court of Pakistan — first Federal Government building to go solar
Solar Citizen commissions the 100 kW solar PV system at the Supreme Court of Pakistan — the first federal government building in the country to transition to solar. The installation becomes the reference deployment for Pakistan’s broader federal solar transition: a publicly documented baseline for energy savings, net-metering integration, and engineering specifications that subsequent federal buildings now follow.
Pivot to technology-led solar · SOL AI launched
Solar Citizen evolves from a solar installer into Pakistan’s first technology-led solar company. The pivot is anchored in the creation of Modular Intelligence (SMC-Private) Limited as a separate engineering entity, and the launch of its inaugural product: SOL AI — Pakistan’s only proprietary always-on solar monitoring intelligence. SOL AI runs on top of every Solar Citizen installation, with 24/7 fault detection, per-string performance tracking, WhatsApp performance alerts, tariff-aware export optimisation, and K-Electric load-shedding intelligence built specifically for Pakistan’s grid.
