Terms and Conditions – Solar Citizen
These Terms and Conditions (the “Agreement” or “Terms”), together with our Privacy Policy, govern your use of www.solarcitizen.com.pk (the “Site”) and the products and services provided by Solar Citizen (“Solar Citizen”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By using this Site, requesting a quotation, or engaging us to design and install a solar energy system, you (“you”, “the Customer” or “End User”) agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms or our Privacy Policy, please do not use the Site or our services.
Solar Citizen may update or amend these Terms and the Privacy Policy at any time. Updated versions are posted on the Site, and where a change materially reduces your rights or increases your obligations we will make reasonable efforts to notify you using the contact details you have provided. Continued use of the Site or our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Our Services
Solar Citizen is a solar energy company that designs, supplies, installs, commissions and services grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid solar power systems for residential and commercial customers in Pakistan. Our services include:
- System design and engineering based on your electricity usage, roof and sanctioned load;
- Supply of solar panels, inverters, batteries, mounting structures and balance-of-system components;
- Installation, testing and commissioning of the system;
- Preparation and processing of net-metering / net-billing applications with your electricity distribution company (DISCO) under the applicable NEPRA regulations; and
- Performance monitoring through our Sol AI platform, including continuous polling (approximately every 10 minutes) and daily WhatsApp performance reports where the service is enabled for your system.
Quotations, Proposals & Pricing
Quotations and proposals are typically prepared and shared through our proposal system at proposals.solarcitizen.com.pk and may be accepted by electronic signature. Unless a document states otherwise, a proposal is valid for 7 days from its date of issue.
Prices for solar equipment in Pakistan depend on market conditions, import duties and the US Dollar exchange rate, all of which can change. Accordingly, all prices are indicative and subject to change until a contract is signed and the booking deposit is paid; at that point your price is confirmed for the scope set out in your contract. Any online calculator estimate is an approximation for guidance only and is not a binding quotation.
Expert Survey & Site Visit
Before finalising a design we usually carry out an on-site Expert Survey to assess your roof, shading, wiring, structure and sanctioned load. The Expert Survey carries a fee of PKR 3,000, which is adjusted against your final quotation if you proceed with the installation. Online consultations and calculator-based estimates are free of charge.
Orders & Payment
A signed proposal or contract, together with the required booking deposit, confirms your order and authorises us to reserve and procure equipment for your system. Payment is made against milestones — typically a booking deposit, a payment on delivery of equipment to site, and the balance on commissioning and handover. The exact schedule is stated in your signed proposal or contract. Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
Net Metering / Net Billing & Regulatory Applications
Where you ask us to arrange grid interconnection, we prepare and submit the required application to your DISCO on your behalf. Since February 2026, new applicants come under NEPRA’s Prosumer Regulations 2026 (SRO 251(I)/2026), under which exported units are purchased at roughly Rs 10–11 per unit under net billing, while grid imports are billed at your normal tariff. The earlier 1:1 net-metering arrangement continues only for systems approved before February 2026, until their agreements expire. Interconnection agreements for new prosumers run for a term of 5 years.
Approval, timelines, meter installation and any regulatory or DISCO charges are determined by NEPRA and your DISCO and are outside our control. We do not guarantee that an application will be approved, or approved within a particular timeframe, and any regulatory, meter or processing charges levied by the authorities are payable by you unless your contract states otherwise.
Customer Obligations
To allow us to deliver the system safely and on schedule, you agree to:
- Provide safe and reasonable access to your roof, meter, distribution board and installation areas;
- Give accurate information about your electricity consumption, sanctioned load and property, and provide the DISCO and identity documentation needed for net-metering / net-billing applications;
- Ensure that your building structure and existing electrical wiring are, or can be made, suitable for the installation (any remedial civil or electrical work outside our agreed scope may be chargeable); and
- Make payments in accordance with the agreed milestone schedule.
Warranties
Solar panels, inverters, batteries and other equipment are covered by the respective manufacturers’ warranties under their standard terms, as stated on the relevant datasheets. Solar Citizen manages valid manufacturer warranty claims on your behalf. In addition, we provide a workmanship warranty on our installation for the period stated in your contract. Except for these warranties and any rights that cannot be excluded under Pakistani law, all other warranties, whether express or implied, are excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law. Warranties do not cover damage from misuse, unauthorised modification, tampering, neglect, or events outside our control.
Monitoring & Sol AI
Where enabled, our Sol AI platform monitors your system through continuous polling at intervals of approximately 10 minutes and can send daily WhatsApp performance reports (around 19:30 PKT) and fault alerts. Monitoring is provided on a best-effort basis and depends on your internet connectivity, the inverter’s data output and third-party networks; it is not a real-time control system and does not operate or switch your inverter or batteries on your behalf.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Solar Citizen shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including loss of savings, loss of generation, or business interruption. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with any system or service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us for that system or service. Estimated savings, payback periods and generation figures we provide are good-faith projections based on typical conditions and available tariff and irradiance data; actual results depend on weather, usage, tariffs and grid conditions and are not guaranteed.
Force Majeure
Solar Citizen is not responsible for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, extreme weather, power or grid failures, import or supply-chain disruption, currency controls, strikes, acts of government or regulatory authorities, or changes in law.
