COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL

Projects

Solar Citizen designs and installs commercial and industrial solar systems from 20kW to MW-scale across Pakistan. We serve factories, hospitals, schools, corporate offices, and government buildings.

At current industrial tariffs, a 100kW commercial system saves Rs. 5–8 Lakh per month. Payback period is typically 2–3 years. After that, your operating costs drop permanently.

Every commercial project includes custom engineering and structural assessment, Tier-1 panels and inverters, net metering application, 24/7 Sol AI monitoring, and a dedicated project manager. We handle permitting, installation, and commissioning — no subcontractors.

Our portfolio includes the Supreme Court of Pakistan (100kW), Jubilee Spinning Mills (1,000kW), Precision Polymer Engineering (850kW), IBA (65kW), and healthcare and education institutions across the country.

If your monthly electricity bill exceeds Rs. 3 Lakh, talk to our commercial team.

Engineering-Led Commercial & Industrial Solar EPC

For a factory, a mill, or a commercial plant, solar is not a green gesture — it is a multi-decade energy-cost asset that has to be engineered, financed, and monitored like infrastructure. Solar Citizen builds commercial and industrial (C&I) systems end to end: structural and electrical design, Tier-1 procurement, AEDB-compliant installation, K-Electric / DISCO net-metering filing, and 24/7 performance management through our proprietary SOL AI platform. We are an AEDB C-2 certified installer and the #1-listed firm in PPIB’s independent power producer category.

Engineered for Pakistan's Industrial Conditions

A national installer’s standard design does not survive a Karachi industrial rooftop. Our designs account for the conditions that actually degrade C&I yield and asset life:

Coastal corrosion. In Karachi’s saline, humid air, standard mounting hardware corrodes and fails years early. For coastal and industrial rooftops we specify marine-grade, corrosion-resistant mounting structures so the racking outlives the panels rather than the other way round.

Thermal derating. Rooftop temperatures on a working mill can run far above ambient in summer, and every degree above a panel’s rated temperature costs output. We specify Tier-1 N-type TOPCon panels, which carry a lower temperature coefficient than older PERC modules — protecting real-world yield in exactly the months your production load peaks.

Structural reality. Aging textile-mill and warehouse roofs were not built for solar loads. Our structural assessment determines load paths, ballast vs. penetration mounting, and reinforcement needs before a single panel is ordered — not after a leak.

The Financial Case: LCOE, Net-Billing & Power Factor

For a CFO, the number that matters is the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) — the all-in cost per unit your system delivers over its life, compared against a rising industrial grid tariff. On a high-consumption facility, a well-engineered system typically delivers solar units at a fraction of the grid rate, and that gap widens every time tariffs and fuel-price adjustments climb.

Two things separate a real commercial model from a sales pitch:

Net-billing, not just net-metering. Under Pakistan’s current prosumer rules the highest-value strategy is sizing for daytime self-consumption rather than low-value export — see our breakdown of the NEPRA prosumer regulations. We model your actual load curve, not a generic template.

Power-factor and integration. Adding inverters to a plant running heavy motors and machinery can affect power factor and trigger utility penalties if it is not engineered correctly. We design the interconnection so solar reduces your bill without creating a new one.

We also handle the full K-Electric / DISCO commercial net-metering application, and set expectations honestly on the approval timeline up front.

SOL AI: Industrial-Grade Asset Management

A 1MW asset cannot be managed from a basic inverter app. SOL AI is our proprietary monitoring and asset-management layer, built for commercial sites:

Real-time, plant-level visibility across strings, inverters, and meters — not a single black-box reading.

Predictive maintenance alerts that flag an inverter or string anomaly before it becomes downtime during a critical production shift.

Adaptive load awareness so generation is understood against your actual consumption pattern, surfacing waste and underperformance that quietly erode ROI.

The hardware is the baseline. The software is what keeps a commercial system performing to its financial model for 25 years.

Commercial & Industrial Solar — FAQs

What size solar system does an industrial facility in Karachi need?
It depends on your load curve, not your roof. We size commercial systems to match daytime consumption from your actual K-Electric / DISCO bills and demand profile, then model self-consumption versus export under current net-billing rules. Systems range from a few hundred kW to multi-megawatt, like our 1MW Jubilee Spinning Mills installation.

Why do coastal and industrial rooftops need special engineering?
Karachi’s saline, humid air corrodes standard mounting hardware, and high rooftop temperatures derate panel output. We specify marine-grade mounting structures and Tier-1 N-type TOPCon panels (lower temperature coefficient) so both the racking and the yield survive the local environment.

How does solar affect power factor in a factory?
Adding inverters to a plant with heavy machinery can affect power factor and risk utility penalties if not engineered correctly. We design the interconnection and, where needed, power-factor correction so solar lowers your bill without creating a new charge.

Does net-billing make commercial solar less attractive?
No — it shifts the optimal strategy toward daytime self-consumption rather than export. For a facility that runs during the day, that is the highest-value case. We model it against your real load.

How do we get started?
Request a commercial feasibility study. We review your recent bills and load profile, conduct a structural and electrical site assessment, and return a system design with an LCOE-based financial model and the net-metering filing plan.

Request a commercial feasibility study. Talk to our engineering team about your facility — WhatsApp our commercial desk, call +92 317 6527111, or send your details and we’ll prepare a load-based proposal.
